# Gain Staging starting point

Hello Jaycen! First of all thanks a lot for your time, I am a big fan. When you talk about Gain Staging, you say that you adjust your drums (the entire project grouped together) to -1 on your Shadow Hills, but on many occasions I see that the clip gain of the tracks is below zero, which is how I imagine you regularly receive them. The individual tracks are never too hot, as you do for that balance between VCA volume and gain, without loosing the balance. Thank you so much!
