# Stereo wideners in mastering

How often do you find yourself using stereo wideners such as Ozone imager to widen the stereo image of your masters and when would you recommend using stereo imagers?

Hunter,  
I generally don’t use a “widener” unless a client specifically  
asks. sometimes i’ll do some S&D (mid/side) eq’ing to help in some areas but that’s about it. i"ve had some negative feedback when i’ve used it without asking.
