# When you are stacking the kick drums

When you are stacking/layering the kick drums, how do you know the right way about doing so, like what are you listening for, and how do you know that it feels right to you, and do you tune all the layers to a certain pitch? Thank you, work with you soon!

There’s no rhyme or reason to layering. Sometimes it’s 5 or 6… sometimes it’s just 1 or 2. It depends on what I’m looking for in the song. Is it a kick drum that I want to really cut through? Or maybe I actually don’t want it to take up much space at all? It all depends on the song!
