What were some challenges or unexpected surprises when working on this album? Was there anything new added to your workflow or was there anything cool you needed to do that stands out?

We wanted to keep the vocals feeling really natural on this record, but we still needed them to sound exciting and big without leaning on reverb. We used more tape echoes and real springs and highlighted them more sparingly - like we pic our moments to bring them up / lower them to maintain that natural feel most of the time and highlight specific moments when we really wanted something to sparkle. It was the arrangement of not only the vocals themselves, but the arrangement of the hardware fx that keep pulling interest throughout the mix. This was a fun challenge!

Those layered moments are amazing! It feels like it would have been a complex EQ challenge as well! It all feels very wide and immersive!
