A lot of the artists that I record are in the genre of hip hop and tend to use YouTube beats that were not paid for, so I often do not have the privilege of manipulating the individual stems when mixing. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that they use when mixing vocals on a 2-track beat to still achieve width, depth, and character.

you can do parallel processing to the beat to enhance what you want from the beat (ex. bass), use mid/side eq to tame/enhance frequencies, some times I use neutron unmask to sit the vocal on the beat
Or you can stem split the beat with AI and mix individual tracks but I’ve not tried it yet
Hello.
I use Remix and Drums Remix plugin of Acon Digital in order to separate the stems.
I down a few dBs all the stems for mix with the vocals cause it are very loud and mastered.

hi marko, there is a great way to do this with soothe, having a side chain with the vocal afecting the frequency of the instrumental. sounds natural and you can achieve great results with it!
