Keys layering theory?

Hey Danny. I’m gonna be greedy an ask multiple questions. Here’s one:

Do you have any theory regarding what tonal elements a production needs and if so how do you approach these? I noticed in your old Against The Clock vid you had a few track in the template named “carry”, “bottom”, “smash” and “body” for example where Carry seemed to be the main sound and Bottom the bass. Do you approach this as you were writing for an orchestra?

And do you approach width, depth, tonal and requency range when layering with any theory or is it all gut feeling?
