Q for Laura Sisk

Hey Laura. Jack has given you shout outs forever as being a vital part of his creative process. What moments are yours to step in and guide, and when do you hold back?

Great question! I think the answer changes and evolves with every project. We’ve worked together for a long time and I think the most important thing I do for him is make sure he is always able to stay in a creative headspace. So I would say from a true birds eye view; his role is more about the songwriting, musicianship, and creative vision, while I focus on supporting that vision with the technical details. Ie. Going extremely deep into the minutia of edits… When I’m working on a vocal, I am highlighting every ounce of emotion I can to serve the song or creative vision. I might actually be pulling a vocal a tiny bit sharp or flat at the end of it to emphasize anger or sadness.
