Add energy to a pop chourses

What do you think is best way to add energy to a Chours in a pop song?
Add more layers? change rhythm? Add more low end?

The thing it took me the longest to find, but that helped me the most when I finally understood it:

If you’re trying to make your chorus sound big, usually it’s better to look at how you can make the part before the chorus seem smaller. Everything is relative. A chorus will seem huge if the part before it feels smaller
