Hey Leslie! Hope you’re good! I often find myself cutting too much (particularly vocals) to try and get them to sit in the track better which often leads to them sounding thin, how would you go about training yourself not to overdo it so that everything keeps its body?
I approach it differently. I get the vocals to sound exactly how I want. I give them the body that I want to hear and then any carving out I do happens AROUND the vocals. I carve out instruments and sounds. And quite honestly, its usually just a balancing act of levels and panning. I always resort to the fundamentals first.
