hey Paula…prepping is so important as it means by the time i start a mix all the smaller/time consuming things are done and the session looks familiar to me.anything from tuning/tidying up vocal tracks to re-editing drums is done in the prep time. each assistant i have had has made their own adjustments and so its got better and better over the years. to show you would require more time but the idea behind the prep is to reduce as much the non mix stuff and get it done before!
