Hi there, I’m just wondering because I’m new to mixing. What are the main steps? Should you do before mixing/Start do you have to turn down each track/instruments or something like that? Because Have no idea how to mix
Hi there Jasper, welcome to the world of mixing — and to Mix with the Masters! You’re in the right place. One of the best ways to learn is by watching how different engineers approach their sessions, and we’re fortunate to have a huge library of videos where the top professionals in the industry walk through their entire process — including how they prepare a mix, organize their sessions, and make creative decisions.
Everyone has a slightly different approach, so we encourage you to explore a few videos and see what resonates with you. Some engineers begin by organizing and leveling the session, others jump straight into creative processing — there’s no single “right” way, only what works for you.
Personally, I believe in setting up the session in a way that lets you be as creative as possible. The more familiar you are with your DAW and the technical side, the more freedom you’ll have to focus on the music and really dive deep into the mix.
Enjoy the journey — and don’t hesitate to ask more questions as you go!
