Mixing with the mindset of a mastering engineer

Hello,

This is a topic I’ve been rolling around in my head for a few weeks now.

The idea of mixing, or even producing with the knowledge that mastering will occur down the road, the decisions I make now effect everything. From my sound selection in the production phase, to the mixing done pre master. Much like gain staging effects how a plugin reacts to a signal, how I produce and mix effects the results of inevitable mastering chain, be that from the clippers on my busses to my compression and we all these things create the transient information that will translate to the LUFS on the other end of the mastering chain creating my hopefully competitive sound.

How does this affect your creative process in production, mixing or mastering?
