Passion pain & demon slaying questions

Hey Randy!
You’ve mastered one of my favorite albums ever Kid Cudis Passion Pain and Demon Slaying
I love the sound of the album and the power it’s sonics have in the low end and the loudness.

Would love if mix with the masters did a breakdown of something from that album.

But

I know it’s been a few years but Are you able to recall the process of working on it from start to finish. ? Did you have a specific approach to mastering it? Did you go into it trying new techniques/plugins/hardware or did you master it the way you usually do?
Also how involved was Cudi in the mastering process ?

Thanks!

Hey Samson,

Thank you so much! It’s been a while since I worked on that album, so the details of the session are foggy, but I do remember that there was a lot interactivity with their team, both in terms of there being mix and mastering changes across several days. It was truly a group effort to get it to the finish line. I’m grateful I was able to work with Tom Coyne on it; my mentor and friend.

Best Regards,
Randy
