Hi Tom ! I love the songs you mixed on Ginger, Blonde and Utopia, to me those albums are so amazing for their vocal effects ! How are you doing those pitched vocals effects that we can hear on Nikes by Frank Ocean and My eyes by Travis, did you do it by yourself or is it a production choice ?

with travis and frank many of the vocal fx were already in play when i received the files…travis is a beast on tools so is mike dean and Caleb did his thing too…so a lot is done at the production stage
of course i joined the party if you like but sometimes less is more and my job then is to make it all cohesive. the fun part of the projects you mention is that they are all other wordly in their presentation so anything goes really. the pitched vocals on blonde and endless were inbuilt but we toyed with different pitches up and down and there were many versions…
again its the contrast within these mixes that make for a fun listen. it can go from dry to cavernous in a bar…so much fun!
