Raye Escapism Vocals

I’m really curious about how you achieved such incredible depth and dimension in the vocals. Was TrueVerb part of the process, or did you use a combination of different effects? Could you share some insights into the EFX busses in your Pro Tools session—particularly how you handled the choir and the various spatial elements?

The vocals feel like they form a sort of “triangle,” with so many layers, each occupying their own distinct space. The separation, clarity, and sense of depth are absolutely stunning. How did you approach this? Were there specific plugins, chains, or processing techniques you used to create such spatial richness?

I’d love to know everything—your thought process, the tools you used, how you layered and balanced the vocals, and how you shaped the dynamics and space. Vocal tracking and production are passions of mine, and I’m eager to learn how to achieve something similar. I want to dive into every detail of how you created this incredible sound!

Hi! Man this is very specific and I’d have to look back in the session to know. I don’t want to disappoint in this answer, but I really don’t know. I do a lot of eq on dry vocals and fx separately to create space. I know there’s a combination of fx from producer and my own on that mix. Not sure true verb is one of them. I didn’t use it at least. I reached more for H3000 and short delay type stuff to add dimension without changing the length of a pretty rhythmic vocal approach that verbs wouldn’t seem to work well with the maintain the bounce. It was a fun challenge to get this all to sit right as it’s a pretty loud and dense mix, yet we actually achieved some dimension. I’d say there’s no one move that made this, but a ton of tiny moves.

Ahh, I see. Been trying to figure out this myself since its so perfect. You dont want to tell more what kind of FX plugins / auxes you used or maybe ist just all short delay stuff that you can recreate with whatever? i know mike sabbath use alot of BX 2500 and does haass effect on the song.
