I am mixing in Dolby Atmos Renderer in Pro Tools for the first time, and mixing a score for a movie. I am sorry to say, I am total newbie to this and don’t have a clue! I tried learning from Pro Tools tutorials, but it just wasn’t comprehensive enough. What I really need is a practical, step by step, no nonsense tutorial from the very beginner perspective. Perhaps, I should not be taking on such a project, but I was up for the challenge. Can anyone point me in the direction of a great, step by step tutorial on Dolby Atmos Renderer for Pro Tools?
I actually the answer from Pro Tools about this but it wasn’t easy to find! It would still be helpful to have a visual tutorial.

Hello,
Here is a link to a quite simple tutorial. The presenter has two versions. One for in the box and one for external out of the box. There are others but this is quite basic to get your brain around it. Hope it helps you.
Thanks for that! Most YouTube tutorials move very quickly and it’s hard for me to catch everything. Visuals are helpful, but I also prefer to read. That way, I can reference it later on. As I am mixing in 5.1, I am also curious about how to mix the score when there are no other effects, just the dialogue and the score. Curious how to use up the rest of the space and not overpower the dialogue.
One good thing that YouTube tutorials allow you to do is PAUSE, REWIND and REWATCH…
Yes, I do that, thanks for you input!
