Reggaeton Drum & Bass Mixing

Hi Josh,

I’m a huge fan of your work and have watched many of your mixing sessions. I would love to know how you get the kick, snare, and bass in your Reggaeton songs to feel like it’s pumping. Your mixes sound loud but smooth enough to listen many times in a row without fatiguing the ear. When I listen to your mixes, it feels like every sound is present with the perfect amount of space to exist without fighting each other.

Thank you.

Sincerely your student,
Vic

Hey Vic, Thanks for replying to the board!

A lot of that sound comes from the producers - the ones that know what they’re doing already have that bounce embedded into the production. I find myself not having to do much processing on most Reggaeton drums - but balance is v important

Seems like it would be the other way around, but most of the time it’s not.
