Leslie ı’m curious, do Drake/Nicki Minaj like industry pro’s use manual vocal tuning generally? Or do they just start tracking with an autotune setting that they like and leave that throughout the end.

usually the tuning is based on the song. Some people do it either way. Chris Brown for example sings into the auto-tune and has his vocal printed with it. I’m not sure about Drake and Nicki’s processes. But regardless of whether its printed with the vocal or not, it still needs to be appropriately set up for the key of the song for sure. When I was mixing all the T-Pain stuff, the auto-tuning was done in the mixing phase his vocals were recorded with no efx on them.

And yes mostly auto-tune, not manually with Melodyne.
