Looking for Advice on First Analog Gear for Mastering (BC1-THD vs SA-4000 MK3 and more)

Hey everyone,

I’ve been doing all of my mix and mastering work in the box for years and I’m generally very happy with the results. But lately, I’ve started feeling the need for a bit of analog flavor—especially when it comes to mastering.

I’m looking to slowly start building a small, focused analog chain (nothing too crazy). At the moment, I’m considering picking up a bus compressor and a mastering EQ as a starting point.

I’ve been researching the TK Audio BC1-THD vs Stam Audio SA-4000 MK3, but I’m really torn between the two. From what I’ve read, the BC1-THD is quite transparent and clean, while the SA-4000 MK3 is praised for its added harmonics and character.

Alongside one of these, I’m also thinking about the Rupert Neve Master Bus Transformer and the Millennia NSEQ-2 for EQ duties. And for vocal mixing, the new Warm Audio WA76-A (1176-style comp) caught my attention.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to try any of them in person, and as you all know—these are serious investments. So I’d love to hear from anyone who’s used any of these units, or has recommendations on safer, more “go-to” options in this range.

Any insights or experiences would be super appreciated!
