Hi Jaycen! I always wondered. Some of my favourite mixes like Playing Games(Summer Walker) , you can just turn them all the way up on any device and the hihats/claps/snare are not harsh at all. Generally, if you turn the sample down for reaching this hurts the excitement. Is it generally about finding these problems and applying soothe or compression? Or is it about the fine clipping/limiting that softens those. Thanks!
First start your mix with whatever you have on your 2 Buss. Then remember when your are mixing… mix at the level your clients are going to be listening. If they are listening loud you have to mix loud. At least for some final adjustments. This will help you control a lot of the harshness when you turn it up loud on playback.
