Transient and loudness

Hey Jaycen,

You emphasise the importance of transients a lot in your video’s. I really like the way you treat transients in all your mixes.
However at some point in the mixing/mastering process the transients in my songs get crushed by compressing/limiting because of loudness goals.

How do you deal with this? Wont transients always be crushed at some stage in the mixing/mastering process?

Anyways thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge on here!

Kind regards

Yes - if you’re limiting hard you’re always going to technically lose the physical transients. The key is to add frequencies and distortion in a way as to trick the ear that the transients are still there. For example, adding a higher frequency tick to the kick in parallel is going to make the kick seem sharper
