Hi! For rap vocals, how would you approach the relationship between vocals and hi hats/percussion, especially if the top end of the vocalist is a bit on the harsh side? I find that those frequencies are often times fighting each other. Is it better for vocals to take up the 12 K range and hi hats the 16 K range or vice versa? Should the highest point of the top end always be the vocal? Or maybe the hi hats/percussion? Thanks!
I honestly think its based on the feel of the song. In most cases the vocals don’t typically clash in that frequency range because the perc and hi hats are very incremental and not sustained sounds. In trap music Hi Hats and vocals can be loud and not necessarilyclash at all.
