Hi! My name is William, I’m a songwriter/producer and engineer from Sweden. I’d like to submit my song ‘Falling For You’ - A fast paced Pop/rock song with a lot of dynamic elements. I’ve done everything from writing, recording (except drums that were engineered by someone else) and mixing. I think this song deserves some CLA love and would be stoked to see what he would to with it!
Hi I’m Valerio Mina and I’m an engineer/producer/musician based in MIlan Italy.
The son I want to share is called “Il Mare” the Sea in english.
.
Il Mare is the first song of Petrigno’s nascent career as a singer-songwriter. This was also the first song he made me listen to and on which I decided to approach as producer.
We took 8 days recording for the whole album at Blackstar Recording Studio, in which I am resident sound engineer.
I recorded the drums using mostly a Trident 80 LRAB:
- 2 kick mics, one d12 inside e the second on the resonant skin of a second kick drum, a stc 4038 through, both through isa110 pre eq
- snare md441 up and down
- mono overhead stc 4038
- floor tom 414eb
- and a couple of trash mics, one a called fake pzm beneath the kick and the snare facing the floor, a d130 from akg; the other beneath the drummer chair facing the kick drum to catch a little more the beater, avoid the low end, both heavly compressed and distorted. In mixing I added just a touch of 505 roland a the end as reinforcement for the hit on ftom and on the snare.
I processed the drums with a German Comp as parallel, through a primal tap as main delay on the drums; a second delay the echoboy much more as a random efx after the second half of the song; a plate reverb, a 240 emulation for add space. No room mics.
The bass are two. the 1st is a software bass pad and the 2nd is a Minimoog.
First guitar is a dobro recorded with 2 mics, a b&K 4007 very close and a U47 a little far to catch more air.
The main electric is plitted into 2 signals: one the upper register and on a second amp the lower tone recorded simply on a ampeg b15 with a sm7.
The other guitars are mostly recorded with one close to the speaker dyn mic, a 421, and a second which is called Sicilian reverb, an olive oil can which I used a lot in context like this. Overloud sampled it and its IR are available for free into Blackstar Libray for Rematrix… just for fun =)
The slide guitar is a very far mic into the room.
All the guitars through Harrison 32c pre eq than into a api2500.
Piano is recorded with 2 km84 straight to the console.
Vocals are mostly recorded with 2 mics: pl20 for distorted, megaphone, screams etc… main vocals through u47. the chain is Neve 33135 > ua 1176
I mixed everuthing ITB. I hope you enjoy

My name is Austin Eckel and I wrote, recorded, and mixed this song called “A Life We’ll Never Know” for my solo project called “Static to the Sound”.
Song has real grand piano, real acoustic guitar, real electric guitars. Perfect for some CLA love
Musically, my inspirations stem from Jack’s Mannequin/Something Corporate, The Fray, and other piano rock based musicians. The song idea stemmed from one of my favorite movies where when two people in love were chasing their dreams, it turned out that their dreams made their lives incompatible with one another. The idea is that in some other life where they would have chosen love, they may not have ended up in their dream job or scenario, but they would have had each other. I think this song style is right up CLA’s alley. The song is currently unreleased and is going to be released on a full album this year. The idea that it could have the legend — Chris Lord-Alge’s magical touch on it, is an absolute dream. I remember reaching out to Chris back in 2014 to possibly work on a project that I had recorded with Jim Wirt, but financially it wasn’t a possibility for me at that time. I’ve always looked to Chris and his mixes as the standard. It would be an incredible honor to have him mix this track and bring out its full potential!
I’d like to submit my song “Driftin’ Away” for this:
Hey, I couldn’t believe it when I saw the e-mail for this opportunity to submit a song for MR. CLA to review! I hope this song fits the bill. It was recorded/tracked in the 80’s and I kept the 24 Track master. Last year I had the tracks recovered and digitized. I have been working on re-mixing in Pro-Tools.
The song is called “On Your Own” and features a powerful female vocalist. I have a challenge keeping the dynamics (energy and emotion) of the lead vocals while keeping the music tracks clear, powerful and energetic. Back in the day I mixed live when it was “make everything louder than everything else”!
Thank you for your consideration!

Hello! I’m Saoirse Byrne a solo looper artist based in Dublin Ireland. This is my unrealesed self produced/mixed track called Something Different. I wrote and recorded it completely by myself in my home studio (..bedroom). I was very inspired by Hayley Williams latest album Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party and was trying to create a moody rock vibe. If I was chosen, to have the opportunity to learn from such a talent would be incredible. My song is far from perfect and to get tips from the master himself would no doubt help me improve my mixing immensely. Chris Lord-Alge has mixed some of my favourite albums of all time by my favourite bands of all time including Green Day, My Chemical Romance and Muse which are all huge inspirations for me! This opportunity would be life changing!!!
Thank you for your consideration!

Hi, my name is David Mills, I’m a producer and engineer out of Lake Elsinore, California. I have been working with a band called Kings of Karma from out this way and think their style of music would be right up your alley, and I would personally just love to watch you work on their tune and my tracks and see what I could have done differently in the mix and improve in my tracking. I love coming here to MWTM to constantly try and learn and improve. This song in particular we thought might be cool to send in as it harkens back to older classic rock styles I feel like CLA has specialized in forever. Also, this is one of my favorite tracks on the album because it was never meant to be. The 10th slot on their album was slated to be a cover, but on one of the tracking days, the guitar player started playing this riff and the band started joining in. As the producer I immediately stopped what we were working on and said “We gotta finish writing this song right now before its lost, its replacing the cover tune on the album” and we got it written and hashed out right there in the studio. It ended up being one of my favorites off the album and also I think one of the more unique tunes. It would be awesome to hear what direction you would take it and the life you would bring to it! Here is a link to the song. Thank you for your time and consideration!!!
First of all, I’ve been listening to the songs posted above and noticed that there are good songwriters, musicians and mixing/mastering engineers here!
The song that I’m adding is by the band Street Rock Rebels. Punkrock with some other influences. When I mentioned the webinar to a band member he found it an interesting idea. (Own songs and ones that I’ve recorded/mixed/mastered are mainly metal and a bit outside of what MWTM does up until now).
I mixed and mastered this quite recently but it was recorded at someone else’s studio. It’s about being overly confident when you’re young. The band wanted the drums and vocals to be more forward. To make the guitars (JCM 800) blend differently I added other amplifier sounds. One version had more mid heavy guitars but they chose this final result. Also, since the song is quite straightforward I altered the vocals around 02:50 to slightly mix it up.
It would be interesting to see how Chris tackles the mix. Though I’ll watch no matter which song gets chosen of course.
I am a mixing engineer on the project, and thought it was an interesting and weird song to mix. Here’s what the artist said:
”I am a music and computer science student at Macalester College, and this song is a project I created for my electronic music course. It is a J-pop Vocaloid track featuring Hatsune Miku that explores themes of mental illness, capturing the mindset of someone who survives by consuming the affection of others. I also attempted to fuse extended compositional techniques, such as Schoenberg’s twelve-tone method and extended harmonies, into the pop genre. I would love to hear how a CLA would approach mixing this unconventional song.”
Here is the link, contact me for multitrack if needed :
Sins of Our Father is a hard rock track written for a real person — my friend Derek McCarthy, who was abused by clergy in Ireland at 14 and fled to America to survive and start over. This is the song about the moment he ran.
The lyrics don’t soften the story. They carry the rage, the confusion, the desperate need to escape — everything that defined that chapter of Derek’s life.
The chorus is his voice. The verses are the indictment.
The track features performances by Tony MacAlpine on keys and Bruce Bouillet on guitar — two players whose involvement reflects the emotional weight this song carries.
Thanks for listening and for considering this song.
Tony MacAlpine is one of my favorite guitar players (and amazing on keyboard/piano) and the guitars also have a bit of that neoclassical style I hear. The vocals etc. are also well done by the way. Since this happens to be one of several genres that I like, checking out the multitracks and mixing this would be interesting.
Cool song. Great melodies
Here is my submission. A song based around a real scam email. A humorous look into the dark web. Needs a rockin’ good magic mix.
Hi everyone, my name is Gary, I’m from London in the UK, and this is my submission. The song is called ‘Boozy Suzy’, I wrote it a long time ago and it’s been through many versions before now. I record everything at home as a hobby, spend money on instruments and plugins, but nothing has ever been released as I ‘just don’t have the ears for mixing’.
This was all recorded in my little ‘man cave’ by myself using various instruments and software, (that bit I can do and love). Well, hope you like it, and good luck everyone.
Hi ChriS
This is an unreleased rough mix of a song I just finished called “NEWS FOR YOU” it has a sassy country pop rock vibe and could use a bit of your magic! Excited to see what you do with it!
Hello everyone! It’s a pleasure to join this incredible community.
I’m Mauro—a software engineer by day, but I spend my nights and weekends with our dear Pro Tools.
Sound engineering has been a passion of mine since I was a teenager, and recently, I’ve been able to dive deeper by working with my local music community and logging hours in a recording studio. (Finally getting my hands on an LA-610 was a highlight!)
I’m thrilled to share ‘No Masterpiece’ by Mojo Inn.
This track is the result of a great journey with a close group of friends. We recorded it entirely in our rehearsal space using modest gear, and it represents one of my first major mixing efforts.
Having the mighty CLA bring his energy to this track would be an absolute game-changer and a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience.
I’m just starting my journey with Mix With The Masters and can’t wait to learn from the best in the business.
Thank you for the time you dedicate to this and all other activities!

Hey! I’m a songwriter and producer, and I release dreamy indie pop music under the name Porcelain Moon with my partner Emma.
We’ve just finished writing a new track called “As Good As It Gets”. I handle most of our production and mixing, and I’ve put together a rough mix here:

I’ve been a huge fan of CLA’s mixes for years, and I’ve also been using his plugins in my workflow for a while now. It would honestly be incredible to have him mix one of our songs.
Hope you enjoy!
Hello,
My name is Javier Marin. I want to submit this track that is part of an EP that I’m producing for an indie artist.

Here’s a track I co-wrote and produced last year with my Pop-Punk band, Poor Boys Club. Lots of moving parts, with a fun 90’s rap vocal style in the verses. Vocals were recorded on a vintage Neumann M269, drums were recorded in a large wood room on a killer kit. We love this song and wish it would jump out of the speakers more!
